'Prolific burglar' jailed after stealing money from pool table in Northampton warehouse

Wayne Townsend, previously of Northampton, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on September 26 for sentencing, after he pleaded guilty to one count of burglary.
On the night of July 6 this year, the 40-year-old made his way into a warehouse in St James Mill Road and used a screwdriver to break into the cash store of a pool table and steal the money inside. He also stole a bag.

Hide AdLead investigator - PC Jenson Osborne said: “Townsend is a prolific burglar and so to secure a result which involves him going to prison is great news for Northampton.
“I hope this case sends a message to other people who think that making money in this way will be tolerated in this county. It won’t and just like Townsend, you face being jailed as a result.”
Townsend was sentenced to one year and seven months in prison.
