Police van deliberately set on fire overnight in Northampton

A police van was deliberately set on fire in a Northampton street in the early hours of this morning (April 23).

The marked van was on Mill Lane in Kingsthorpe when it was set alight between midnight and 1am.

Northamptonshire Police have been left disappointed that someone's crime has led to a valuable police resource being taken off the roads.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “This happened sometime between midnight and 1am this morning (April 23) when a marked police van was set on fire deliberately. It happened in Mill Lane, Kingsthorpe.

“It’s really disappointing that someone would do this and take a valuable police resource off the roads.”

If anyone saw the incident or has any information, they should contact police on 101.
