Police thank Northampton community for help with investigation into alleged assault that left woman in critical condition

Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Northampton that left a woman with life-changing injuries have thanked the local community for their help with the investigation.

A woman was left with life-changing injuries and a man with serious injuries following an incident on Monday night.

Eight teenagers have been arrested in connection with the assault and bailed while the investigation into what happened continues. The group of boys, aged 13 – 17, have been set bail conditions.

Following the incident the woman was taken to University Hospital Coventry where she remains in critical condition. A man who was with the woman was also taken to the same hospital and has now been discharged.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said a number of people have come forward to assist officers who would still like to speak to anyone who may have any information about the incident.

Detective Inspector Adam Pendlebury, from Northampton CID, said: “Our investigation into this incident continues and I would like to thank those people who have already come forward to help us.

“We would still like to speak to anyone who may have any information about this incident and who has yet to contact us. Anyone with information can contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
