Police respond after litter pickers find large kitchen knife near Northampton park where fatal stabbing happened just weeks ago
Police have responded after a large kitchen knife was found by litter pickers near a Northampton park where a fatal stabbing happened just weeks ago.
Volunteers from Northants Wombles discovered the Ninja-brand silver blade while carrying out a community litter pick in Briar Hill over the weekend (March 7 – 8).
A member of the group said: “A bit shocked to find a sharp Ninja knife on our group litterpick in Briar Hill today, especially considering the fatal stabbing a few weeks ago.
"This was right near the parks where small kids are playing. It's really sad to see some people think it's OK to dump knives in parks, nasty.”

Northamptonshire Police said officers will be following up the discovery.
A police spokeswoman said: “We would encourage anyone who finds a knife in a public place to contact us.”
The find comes after the death of Mason Miller, who was fatally stabbed at Briar Hill Skate Park on February 18.
A 17-year-old boy also suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Two 16-year-old boys, both from Northampton, have been charged with murder and attempted murder. They cannot be named for legal reasons.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for information.
Anyone with information can call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 26000098294.
