Police release handwritten note suspect used to rob Northampton bank after case appears on BBC’s Crimewatch
The man stole £6,000 in cash from Barclays in earlier this year
A handwritten note that a suspect used to rob a bank has been released by police after the case appeared on BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow.
The incident took place in Barclays bank in Drapery on February 18, this year, when a man waited in a queue for the cashier. When he reached the till, he handed over a note demanding the cashier to pass money to him.
Northamptonshire Police has now released the handwritten note in the hope someone will recognise the handwriting.
The note says: “This is a hold up. I want all the £50s £20s £10s and £5s from till.
“Do not set any alarms or call the police until at least 10 minites after I have left the premises.
“Do not put any dye, transmitter or bait money.
“Put money on top of this note, fold paper in half and hand the money over.”
After the case appeared on BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow, starting at 9.15 this morning (September 7), police released the note and are now once again appealing for anyone who knows the man pictured on CCTV or anyone has any information about the case.
Shortly after the incident, a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "A man entered the bank at about 10.50am on Tuesday, February 18, and joined the queue for the cashiers.
“When he approached the counter, he demanded the cashier hand over cash.
"We believe the man pictured may have information about the robbery and are asking him or anyone who recognises him to contact police.”
