Police issue warning after motorcyclist stopped on Northamptonshire red route
A motorcyclist is set to appear in court after being stopped on one of Northamptonshire’s designated red routes.
Northamptonshire Police said the rider was stopped after allegedly exceeding the national speed limit and overtaking on solid white lines.
The force said the road has been designated as one of the county’s red routes “for a reason” and warned that dangerous riding can put both the motorcyclist and other road users at risk.
It comes after four motorcyclists died in collisions in Northamptonshire in 2025, while a further 77 riders required urgent medical assistance for serious or life-changing injuries.

In a statement, Northamptonshire Police said: “Tragically in 2025, four motorcyclists never returned home safely to their loved ones following a collision in Northamptonshire and 77 required urgent medical assistance for serious or life-changing injuries.
“So, it is always disappointing when someone puts their lives and others at risk, by exceeding the national speed limit and overtaking on solid white lines.
“This rider was stopped on the B645 Kimbolton Road in Chelveston, which has been designated one of the county’s red routes for a reason, and now faces a trip to Northampton Magistrates’ Court in the coming weeks.”
