Police are investigating a "suspicious incident" after a man approached a young boy near a Northampton play park.

Officers say the unknown male briefly took hold of the boy's bike handlebars before walking off towards Ploughmans Way, Grange Park.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The incident happened at around 6.15pm on April 26 when a man approached the child in Wake Way, close to Middle Hedge play park.

"Officers are keen to identify a man seen in the area at the time, who is described as having long blonde hair, wearing all black clothing and walking a black dog."

Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 using incident number 21000231062.
