Police are hunting a mystery motorist who gave them a lift

Even without blues 'n twos, they managed to head off the suspect and get their man.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "Our officers were chasing a man for fail to stop offences.

"They knew where he was going but didn't have a vehicle to hand. However, a woman in a light-blue car stopped and drove the officers to the location.

"This allowed our officers to get ahead of the offender and be ready and waiting when he eventually arrived."
