Police are investigation a hit and run which left a dog injured in Northampton on Friday.

Reports say a dog ran off injured after a collision with a black Volvo in Kettering Road between 1pm and 2pm on Friday (April 16).

Officers say the dog had been seen running around the area of Kettering Road, Fairfield Road and Kenmuir Avenue after escaping from its garden prior to the collision.

The driver got out of his car to check for damage but then drove off and has failed to report the incident to police.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for the driver — or anyone who may have witnessed the collision — to get in touch by calling 101 using reference number 21000208566 or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
