One of the attackers swore and assaulted the victim before the second man joined in throwing punches as he was beaten to the ground.

Officers are now looking for anybody to come forward who was in the area of Blackthorn Local Centre between 7pm and 10pm on Friday, June 26.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim greeted the two attackers, one of whom he recognised. But he was sworn at and assaulted before a second man then joined in and started punching, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

"The first man is described as white with a dark complexion, in his early to mid-30s, 5ft 9in, of a stocky build with broad shoulders and short brown hair.
