Police were called to an illegal rave in a Northamptonshire village over the weekend.

Officers say they were called to the unlicensed event in Litchborough shortly before 11.20pm on Saturday, February 28.

The rave continued into Saturday morning (February 28), with music reportedly still playing until around midday on Sunday, March 1.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said: “Police officers were called to an unlicensed music event in Litchborough just before 11.20pm on Friday, February 27.

“Officers worked to prevent further cars accessing the property on the night and the event was shut down safely the next day.”

Residents across a wide sprawl of villages, all the way to Harpole, said they could hear the music throughout the night.

One resident said: “It woke me up at 12 last night.”

Another said: “Heard it this morning at 5am while I was getting ready for work. Don’t know where it was coming from though.”

A resident in Weedon said the noise continued well into Saturday morning. They said: “Music still blasting at four o’clock this morning and then still at 8.30am… same music still blasting at 9am – sort it out.”

“We can hear it in Bugbrooke too,” one resident said.

Another added: “We can hear it in Middle Street, Nether Heyford.”

Another said: “It’s some kind of rave happening in a barn in the field next to ours… if you can hear it in Heyford you can probably imagine how loud it is in my house – it’s literally shaking.”

Another said: “Apparently in Litchborough. With the police just sat watching giving them a blue light show.”

In response to criticism, police said: “We’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak to their local neighbourhood policing team.”
