Police called after fireworks let off on residential road in Northampton during lunchtime funeral procession
Police were called several times after fireworks were let off on a residential road in Northampton, during a lunchtime funeral procession.
The incident happened in Kingsthorpe Grove on Tuesday March 16, when fireworks were let off from the back of a flatbed truck.
According to reports on social media, debris from the fireworks landed in the playground of Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School. The reports say nobody was hurt.
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “We received several reports of people setting off fireworks from the back of a flatbed truck, which was linked to a funeral procession.

“However, although the fireworks were set off as the funeral procession past the primary school, we have not received any reports that these were fired into the school grounds.”
According to Northamptonshire Police, “members of the public may only use fireworks on private property”.
The spokeswoman added the incident was managed with “words of advice” as it was not “persistent anti-social behaviour”.
