Police ask dog walker to come forward after his dog bites a young boy cycling home in Wellingborough

The incident took place between 6:45pm and 7:15pm on Monday (28 September) as the 12-year-old boy was cycling along Abbey Road towards Castle Fields in Wellingborough.

The young cyclist saw a man with a dog on a lead walking towards him. As the boy tried to cycle past them, he was forced to put his leg on the ground to avoid hitting the dog, which then bit his leg, breaking the skin.

The boy did not stop and continued to cycle home.

The dog walker is described as white and in his early twenties. He was five foot and nine inches tall, of a slim build and was wearing a black hoodie or puffa-style jacket with the hood up and a face covering.

The dog was on a metal chain lead and is described as small with short “blondie” fur, a short tail and a white patch on one of its legs.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “Officers investigating this incident are appealing for the dog walker, or anyone who may recognise his or the dog’s description, to get in touch.”
