Police and Crown Prosecution Service issue updates after investigation at Northampton nursery

Northamptonshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service have confirmed no further action was taken after investigations were carried out at a Northampton nursery.

Child First Nursery in Moulton closed suddenly in May last year after safeguarding concerns with a note on the gate confirming that Ofsted had suspended the establishment’s registration and the nursery would be closed “until further notice”.

And in July of last year, a spokesperson for the nursery confirmed that the decision had been taken to permanently close the nursery.

The spokesperson said at the time it was “always our intention to reopen, however with the investigation on-going, we believe this is the best course of action to end any uncertainty for all those impacted”.

Staff were offered new roles across other nurseries, the spokesperson added. “We appreciate the support shown by our families and our staff team during this time. The safety and welfare of the children in our care has always been our highest priority,” the spokesperson said.

Northamptonshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) have now confirmed to the Chronicle & Echo that no subsequent action was taken. A spokesperson for the CPS also said that this decision was now subject to an additional review.
