Northamptonshire villagers woken up by sound of BMW being stolen off their drive

Police appeal for Helmdon households to check CCTV after thieves break-in to steal car keys

Startled residents in a South Northamptonshire village were woken up by the sound of their BMW being driven off the drive.

They then discovered their house had been broken into a a number of items taken — including keys to the car, worth around £25,000.

Detectives are appealing for neighbours in Helmdon, between Towcester and Brackley, to check any CCTV footage for clues.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Occupants of the house were woken between 2am and 3am on Sunday, September 20, by the noise of movement on the gravel drive.

"They have looked out of the window and saw someone on the drive, and their vehicles had been moved.

"They have then discovered the offender or offenders had entered the house and stolen items, including car keys to one of their cars, a white BMW 340i Sport Shadow EDI.

"Our officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of September 20 or who may have CCTV footage which might have captured the incident.
