Northamptonshire Police issued an urgent appeal to parents tonight as they attempted to disperse a group of around 50 youngsters.

Officers from the force's South Northamptonshire team responded to reports of the large gathering ignoring social distancing guidelines in Brackley at around 5pm on Friday (June 12).

The groups congregated on fields behind the town's Leisure Centre.

And police put out the message: "Parents of Brackley — any idea where your kids are this evening?

"There is currently in the region of 50 young people on the recreational area behind the leisure centre.

"We are reminding them about social distancing. {Please have this conversation with your families to reduce the risks."
