Northamptonshire man appears in court to face murder charge after fatal stabbing of security guard at shopping centre

A Northamptonshire man accused of murdering a security guard at a shopping centre in Milton Keynes has appeared in court.

Rory Wilson, aged 50, who police say was formerly known as Rikki Alexander Stewart, did not enter pleas during an appearance at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Monday March 2.

Wilson, of St Lawrence Road South in Towcester, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possessing a knife in a public place in connection with the death of security guard Gary Stanley, 52, who was stabbed in the shopping centre at just after 5pm on Saturday February 28.

Wilson has been remanded in custody and the case has been sent to trial to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court on Tuesday March 4, a court spokesperson told this newspaper.

The centre:mk reopened to the public this morning after being closed over the weekend to allow police to conduct investigations into the death of Mr Stanley.

A book of condolence has been opened in the Guest Services Lounge with reports of people queuing to sign it.

Meanwhile, hundreds of bouquets and flowers have also been left in the shopping centre in tribute.

Police have asked the public not to speculate or circulate inaccurate information on social media while their investigation is live.
