Northamptonshire boy, 16, jailed after police raid uncovers cocaine stash

A Wellingborough boy aged just 16 has been sent to jail after police raided his house and found a kilo of class A drugs.

He was sentenced to spent 18 months in detention following a guilty plea to possession of nearly a kilo of drugs with intent to supply.

As he was convicted at youth court, his name cannot be published.

The cannabis was valued at around £10,000 while the cocaine was estimated to be worth £1,000.

He also made a guilty plea to possessing more than £1,000 cash as possession of criminal property.

The arrest following a warrant executed at his home address in November 2015 by Operation Worcester officers.

A police spokesperson said: “This conviction brings the conclusion of another successful investigation into drug supply in Wellingborough. It shows that whatever age persons involve themselves in this dangerous trade, they will face the prospect of a custodial sentence.”

During recent months police officers have dedicated extra resources to disrupting drug supply in Wellingborough and East Northants as part Operation Worcester.
