Northampton paedophile jailed for 16 years after jury finds him guilty of historic sexual offences
A paedophile from Northampton has been jailed for 16 years after a jury found him guilty of historic sexual offences.
David John Labrum, aged 69, previously of Tyringham Close, Northampton, was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of indecently assaulting a girl and one count of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency.
A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said that after dealing with this horrific crime in silence, the victims bravely contacted Northamptonshire Police to report what had happened to them.
Labrum was arrested and charged and took the case to a trial which started at Northampton Crown Court on November 3, with the jury taking seven hours to deliver majority guilty verdicts on November 12.

Lead investigator, Detective Sergeant Ryan Tilly, said: “The survivors have been hugely courageous and as a direct result of their bravery, David Labrum, who probably believed he had escaped justice, will now spend a very long time in prison.
“We never underestimate how intimidating it can seem to report crimes of this nature to the police, so to anyone reading this who has not yet come forward, please know that we will always treat you with understanding, care and sensitivity.”
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Basham added: “I am really pleased with this result and lengthy custodial sentence, though nothing will ever make up for the abuse Labrum inflicted.
“I’d like to thank DS Tilly for his work on this case. He has shown an enormous amount of professionalism, tenacity and care throughout the entire investigation, and alongside our two survivors, is responsible for ensuring Labrum will now spend a long time in prison.
“Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority for Northamptonshire and we will continue working hard to bring more people like David Labrum to justice.”
Labrum was sentenced on November 14 to 16 years in prison.
