Northampton man, 26, jailed for stalking ex-partner after calling her 1,500 times in three months after they broke up

A 26-year-old man has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to stalking his ex-partner after calling her 1,500 times and sending hundreds of messages.

Liam Connor King, formerly of Norman Road, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on February 20 after he pleaded guilty to multiple offences on the first day of his trial in January this year.

The 26-year-old called the woman upwards of 1,500 times within a 12-week period following their split, sent her hundreds of messages from a number of different mobile phone devices, harassed her via more than 20 social media accounts and contacted her family and friends, according to Northamptonshire Police.

A police spokeswoman added that on one occasion, King published private sexual images of the woman on TikTok alongside her phone number and home address - a pattern of behaviour described by his own legal team as being “abhorrently unattractive”.

A non-molestation order was implemented but subsequently breached by King on six occasions. A stalking protection order was also put in place, but again King breached this, which led to him being arrested. He was subsequently charged with stalking, breaching a non-molestation order and breaching an interim stalking protection order.

In her victim impact statement, the survivor of King’s abuse said: “When a relationship is physically abusive, you have marks on your face – on your body. You bruise, and eventually those bruises go away. The mental scarring doesn’t go away. When someone gives you physical marks, it can be easy to walk away from them, they’ve physically hurt you. When you suffer emotional abuse, they make it seem like it’s all in your head.”

Lead investigator - Detective Constable Bryony Elgey-Farmer, added: “The woman in this case has been brilliant - she has been hugely supportive throughout our investigation and due to the consistency of King’s offending, has had to provide ten separate statements over the course of the past 15 months.

“She has been incredibly understanding of the investigative process and I commend her for her patience in the face of genuine trauma. Her victim personal statement was incredibly impactive, and her summary of how the stalking has affected her is crystal clear. I hope the conclusion of this case brings her some peace and freedom.”

King was sentenced to two years and 11 months in prison.
