Northampton Magistrates hit 60-year-old with £1,000 fine for doing twice speed limit

A 60-year-old has been fined £1,000 after clocking twice the legal speed limit on on a 30mph Northamptonshire country road.

Police enforcement teams snapped Robert Mark Shield, from Market Street, Northampton, doing 65mph in his BMW during the lockdown in June earlier this year.

Shield, who was clocked on the A425 Daventry Road at Staverton, was also ordered to pay £190 in costs and surcharges.

Northampton magistrates also added six points to his licence.
