Neighbours shocked after body found in Corby street
Police have been at the scene since Friday night
People living in a quiet area of Corby's Oakley Vale estate have spoken of their shock after a man's body was found in the street.
A police cordon remains in the area of Snatchill Close and Applegarth Close today after the man died, with officers first called to the scene at 11.50pm on Friday (April 30).
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation is taking place to establish how he died.
One neighbour, who did not want to named, said: "It was about midnight and the street was flooded with police and paramedics.
"We saw them working on a man in the street but he was unresponsive.
"They didn't put a blue tent around him for a couple of hours and then forensics officers came later that morning.
"Police have been knocking on people's doors asking for information but nobody knows how he died."
Earlier on Friday morning a man was robbed just yards away in Snatchill Close and taken to hospital, with two men arrested.
Police have since confirmed they believe the two incidents are not related.
One neighbour said: "It's usually quite quiet round here.
"We didn't hear any shouting or anything at the time (of the death).
"We're all just playing Miss Marple at the minute."
Officers have been conducting door-to-door enquiries and a forensics team has been at the scene over the weekend.
The cordon is expected to remain in place until later this afternoon.
Another neighbour added: "We don't know what they're keeping the road closed for. Forensics have been and gone but nobody is allowed in or out."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
A force spokesman said: "Anyone who may have been in Snatchill Close between 10pm and 11.50pm on Friday night and who hasn’t spoken to police is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
