Detectives are treating the death of a woman in Chelveston as murder

Northamptonshire Police tonight (Tuesday, February 10) announced they have launched a murder investigation following an incident inside a house in Chelveston, near Higham Ferrers.

The incident happened last Monday morning (February 2) when a woman was attacked inside the property in High Street.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the next day (February 3), James Daniel Bird, aged 50, of High Street, Chelveston, was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident and remanded into custody following an appearance at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on February 4. Despite the gravity of the incident, the media and public were not informed of the charge until this evening’s statement was issued.
