Mugger steals phone after attacking victim from behind in Northampton alleyway

Police are hunting a mugger who stole a man's mobile phone after attacking him from behind in an alleyway in Northampton on Wednesday night.

Detectives revealed the 36-year-old victim was hit from behind while walking in a service road between Monks Park Road and Allen Road in Abington.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim was approached from behind before being punched, causing him to drop his phone.

"The offender — described as a white man, 5ft 8in, and was wearing blue trousers and a blue adidas jacket — stole the phone and ran off down Monks Park Road and towards Wellingborough Road."

Police officers are appealing for anybody who might have been in the area of Monks Park Road or Wellingborough Road between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Wednesday (July 15) to come forward by calling 101 using reference number 20000363253 or calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
