A man had a mobile phone snatched during a road-rage row at a busy Northampton junction.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the man and a woman were forced to stop their Audi at traffic lights in St Andrew's Road, near to the train station in the town, and confronted by the occupants of another vehicle.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "This incident happened between 8.30pm and 9pm on Sunday, March 1, when a man and woman travelling in a silver Audi A3 were forced to stop at traffic lights, near to Northampton train station, by the occupants of a blue VW Beetle.

"The occupants of the VW Beetle got out of the car and confronted the occupants of the Audi. As a result of the altercation, a mobile phone was stolen from the man in the Audi.

"We would ask anyone with information or who may have seen this incident to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000118302."
