Police officers are appealing for witnesses after an attempted residential burglary in Honey Crescent, Kettering.

The incident took place between 12.45am and 1am on Monday, May 17, when two men attempted to open a ground floor kitchen window, which had been left slightly ajar.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The occupants were woken by the noise and looked out of another window to see the men attempting to break in.

"The occupant shouted at the offenders, who both ran off towards Summer Crescent.

"At about 1.30am, two men fitting the same description, knocked on doors in Summer Crescent selling meat and cheese."

The first man was in his early 50s, of a slim build with grey hair and an unkempt appearance.

He wore a woolly hat, a large light-coloured coat, light-coloured clothing, dark-coloured trainers and had a carrier bag.

The second man was in his early 20s. He wore a baseball cap, a light-coloured jacket, dark jeans and light-coloured trainers.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the stated times.
