Man pleads guilty to manslaughter over killing of Glenn Davies in attack at Northampton pub

The man accused of the murder of 25-year-old Glenn Davies in an attack at a Northampton pub has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Michael Taiwo, 22, of Lorne Road, The Mounts, was set to stand trial at Northampton Crown Court in March for the murder of Glenn Davies.

But at court today, Taiwo stood again to instead enter a guilty plea to manslaughter but not guilty to murder, which the prosecution accepted.

Glenn Davies died as a result of a head injury he sustained at the Old Bank pub in St Gile's Square shortly before midnight on August 25 last year.

Paramedics attended the scene and he was transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, where he died at about 7.40pm the next day.

Taiwo - who was on bail when he arrived at court today - was remanded into custody at his own request. He will be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on February 14.
