Michael Taiwo, 22, of Lorne Road, The Mounts, was set to stand trial at Northampton Crown Court in March for the murder of Glenn Davies.

But at court today, Taiwo stood again to instead enter a guilty plea to manslaughter but not guilty to murder, which the prosecution accepted.

Glenn Davies died as a result of a head injury he sustained at the Old Bank pub in St Gile's Square shortly before midnight on August 25 last year.
