Man charged with drink-driving after car crash in Northampton

A 33-year-old Northampton man has been charged with drink-driving after a car crashed in Wellingborough Road early this morning (January 25)

Stefan Chiria, 33, of Entwood Drive, Northampton, is facing charges of driving about the legal limit of alcohol, driving without third party insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.

The incident happened at 12.45am on Wellingborough Road when a green Volvo S60 collided with traffic lights.

The Northamptonshire Police Response Team tweeted: “The driver of this car was very lucky not to end up in the tree… he actually first hit the traffic lights in the distance.”
