A suspect has been charged with six offences after a dramatic police chase came to a head in Cedar Road on Friday morning - which saw the police helicopter hovering over the area hunting for a man.

At about 8.30am, a gold Land Rover Discovery failed to stop for police officers near Mill Lane in Kingsthorpe. It then rammed the officers’ police vehicles before making off.

A pursuit followed, which went through a number of Northampton streets including Harborough Road, Ruskin Road, Yelvertoft Road, Norton Road, Cranford Road, Kingsthorpe Road, Milton Street North, Collingwood Road and Birchfield Road, before the car was eventually stopped in Cedar Road.

Several police cars were left with visible damage to the bumpers after the incident.Several police cars were left with visible damage to the bumpers after the incident.

Police officers are appealing for a woman who was clipped by the Land Rover Discovery’s wing mirror during the pursuit, somewhere between Collingwood Road and Birchfield Road, to come forward as well as other vehicle owners whose cars may have been damaged.

William Kisby Parker, 45, of no fixed abode, has been charged with six offences, including dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, having no insurance, criminal damage to police cars and having a fraudulent number plate.

Parker appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on September 5 and was remanded into custody - before his next court date will be confirmed.
