A man from Billing Road has been charged with five offences after allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing her car, which led to a dramatic police pursuit.

At about 8pm on Saturday, August 15, a woman was assaulted inside an address in Kingsthorpe by a man who then allegedly stole her car, a spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said.

Police tracked the car and after he failed to stop, there was a pursuit, which ended in Upton.

Marvin John Flannagan, aged 48, of Billing Road, Northampton, has been charged with GBH, assault, aggravated burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and intimidating a witness in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed to the Chronicle & Echo today that the vehicle has been returned to its owner.
