A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in a busy Northampton road.

Police were called to Wellingborough Road at around 10.15pm yesterday (September 16) to reports of a serious assault.

The victim - a 21-year-old - was taken to University Coventry Hospital after he sough refuge in a shop on the street.

His injures that are not thought to be life threatening or life changing at this time.

A 41-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.
