Man arrested for drink driving in Northampton after running away from seven car pile-up in his pants

A man has been arrested after he ran away from a seven car pile-up in only his boxer shorts.

Police were called to the scene of an incident in Kingsthorpe Grove at around 9.45pm on Saturday (April 18).

Upon arrival officers found that a black Mercedes AMG had been involved in a collision with six other vehicles that were all stationary.

The driver of the Mercedes was seen to run away from the scene in only his boxer shorts after the crash, which left his vehicle on its roof in the middle of the road.

Firefighters were also called to the scene, but luckily no one was hurt.

A 33-year-old was later arrested for drink driving and failing to stop in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for Northaptonshire Police said: “This happened at about 9.45pm on April 18 when a black Mercedes AMG was involved in a seven car RTC (other cars were a silver VW T-Cross, a grey Suzuki Vitara, a black SEAT Arona, a silver Peugeot 107 and a green Ford Fiesta) in Kingsthorpe Grove.

“A man was seen to run off from the Mercedes in only his boxer shorts.”

The man has since been released from police custody under investigation, pending further enquiries.
