There is a high police presence in the Cedar Road this morning with sirens being heard across Abington

Northamptonshire Police have taped off Cedar Road in Abington today (Friday) after an early morning pursuit which saw the police helicopter hovering over the area hunting for a man.

A video shows a severely damaged Landrover being followed at high-speed by three police cars, two of which are also showing damage.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said "This started at about 8.30am when a vehicle of interest (a Land Rover Discovery) failed to stop for police near Mill Lane in Kingsthorpe.

"In its attempts to evade police it rammed a number of our vehicles and a pursuit went through the town ending on Cedar Road where we stopped the vehicle and arrested a man. He is on his way to custody."
