Man, 22, jailed for seven years after being found guilty of stabbing victim in Northampton and fleeing in car
A 22-year-old man has been jailed for seven years after he was found guilty of a stabbing a victim in Northampton, before fleeing in a car.
Marian Leonard Sandu was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on January 7, after he was found guilty following a 10-day trial at Northampton Crown Court.
The 22-year-old was charged with Section 18 – Grievous Bodily Harm, after he attacked a man and stabbed him “a number of times” in Grange Road, Eastfield on December 4, 2024.
Sandu was in the company of three associates when the incident happened, and he fled the scene in a car, according to Northamptonshire Police.

Lead investigator - Detective Sergeant Barry Hughes said: “I am really pleased with this sentence as it demonstrates the severe consequences that using a knife during an altercation can have.
“Thankfully in this case, Sandu is only looking at seven years in prison as opposed to a life sentence for murder, which is an outcome that is always possible when knives are involved.”
Sandu was sentenced to seven years in prison plus three years on extended licence after the court found him dangerous. A lifetime restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim was also issued.
