Hunt underway for man who robbed woman of her handbag and rings in Northampton park

He demanded she hand over her handbag and the rings on her fingers before running off.

A woman was robbed of her handbag and rings when she was walking on a path alongside the Racecourse in Northampton.

Northamptonshire Police said the robbery took place on Sunday, February 14 between 8.30pm and 9.40pm when the victim was walking along the path at the back of the houses towards Barrack Road. A man stepped into her path and demanded she hand over her handbag and the rings on her fingers before fleeing the scene.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "The suspect is described as a white man with sallow skin, about 30 years old, six foot, and of an average build. He had short black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a dark jacket and dark blue jeans."
