Here's why a swarm of police officers raided a property in Northampton

A swarm of police officers helped the RSPCA rescue ‘10 dogs’ from suspected animal suffering at a property in Northampton.

Around a dozen officers from Northamptonshire Police were spotted at an address in Military Road, Mounts, on Wednesday (May 29) at around midday.

Video footage captured by an eyewitness shows officers raiding a property subsequently followed by dogs, allegedly 10 Cane Corso breeds, being taken away in cages.

Northamptonshire Police said it was in attendance to support the RSPCA with the execution of a warrant at the property.

An RSPCA spokeswoman says the charity is restricted in what it can say due to legal reasons but thanked members of the public who report suspected animal suffering to them.

The spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, for legal reasons, we are unable to discuss complaints about specific people.

“We are so grateful to people who report suspected animal suffering to us and we would like to reassure people we will always look into and, if necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare.

“A lot of the time issues will be dealt with by advice and education and it is not always appropriate to publicise this information for legal reasons.”
