A man who failed to stop for police near Mill Lane in Kingsthorpe was chased all the way to Abington this morning by officers, Northamptonshire Police have reported.
The dramatic chase, which started at 8.30am, saw the police helicopter hover over Northampton to hunt down a man in a Land Rover Discovery.
A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said a number of police vehicles were rammed during the incident and the pursuit went through the town, ending on Cedar Road.
The force stopped the vehicle, which was visibly damaged. A man was arrested and is currently in police custody.
An eyewitness reported that 'several police cars were damaged' and police warned the man who was being arrested that he would be tasered.
A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed to the Chronicle & Echo this morning no-one was believed to have been injured.
Part of Cedar Road has been taped off by Northamptonshire Police and remains shut to oncoming vehicles this morning while they deal with the incident.
