Detective Inspector, Dan Finney, said: “Thankfully, incidents like this are exceptionally rare in Northamptonshire and we continue to investigate this case to ascertain who was responsible in order to bring them to justice.

“I know that there is someone out there who knows what happened and who is responsible for this shocking incident. If that is you, I am urging you to please come forward and help us.

“I know it can feel intimidating coming forward and giving information to the police but we don’t now need to know who you are, just what you know.”

A 36-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman arrested in connection with this incident have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
