Four arrested after dramatic motorway chase through Northamptonshire

Four men were arrested over attempts to steal from HGVs following a dramatic motorway chase through Northamptonshire.
Officers from the Force's Road Crime Team called in back up from colleagues in Leicestershire before halting the fleeing BMW by boxing it in on an M1 slip road.

Hide AdA Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras picked up a a black BMW of interested travelling southbound on the M1 in Northamptonshire at about 10.30pm on Thursday (October 14).
"Officers from Northamptonshire Police’s Road Crime Team patrolling the Drift Freight Site at Crick spotted the car parked in a layby on the A5 at about 10.50pm.
"A few minutes later the occupants drove off, and the officers followed them.
"With support of colleagues from Leicestershire Police, the officers stopped the car on the slip road to the services at Junction 21 of the M1, using a controlled T-PAC (Tactical Pursuit and Containment) technique and arrested the occupants."

Hide AdFour men — aged between 19 and 29 — from the West Yorkshire area were held on suspicion of vehicle interference.
Northamptonshire Police recently unleashead seven new Interceptor vehicles equipped with ANPR technology and announced plans to extend its network of static cameras across the county as part of a £1.3million investment
These cameras will also support the Force in tackling anti-social driving and identify uninsured vehicles.
Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold said: "These cameras mean that Northamptonshire Police are able to maximise the use of technology to fight crime, protect communities and keep people safe.
“I hope it shows local people we are serious about the safety of Northamptonshire while sending the message to criminals that in Northamptonshire, there will be no place to hide.”
