A former assistant manager at a Northampton retirement home has pleaded not guilty to stealing money from an elderly resident's flat.

Adam Brooks, formerly of Hawthorns Retirement Apartments, Weedon Road, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court today (July 9) charged with burglary and tehft.

Brooks, 32, from Brackley Road, Buckingham, allegedly entered an elderly resident's room and pocketed money from one of her cupboards.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected to a trial by jury.

He will appear at Northampton Crown Court on August 12.

He was remanded on unconditional bail.
