Firefighters tackled a fire that spread from a wheelie bin to two vehicles on a street in Northampton.

A crew from Moulton was called to a property at Sidebrook Court at around 10.08pm last night (May 13) where they found that one wheelie bin was on fire and that the flames had spread to two cars that were next to it.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue said: "A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera monitored the temperatures.

"The initial cause is believed to be a deliberate ignition due to the location of the bin and it not being a bin collection day."

Firefighters then left the scene at 10.23pm. There were no reports of injuries during this incident.
