It won’t be a happy New Year for this bunch of killers, rapists, child abusers, drug dealers, thugs and thieves, nor will it be for many years to come. All were jailed during 2022 and received some of the heaviest sentences handed down by judges at Northampton and other crown courts.
25. TREVOR McLAUGHLIN
Online paedophile hunters tricked the 44-year-old into thinking he had set up a meeting with a 13-year-old girl at Northampton train station using a fake Facebook profile. The 35-year-old was sentenced to six years, nine months at Northampton Crown Court in July after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent when he stabbed a man four times in the back in Corby town centre. Dad-of-two Daly, 37, splashed cash on boxes of designer goods and a Rolex watch after arranging the supply of at least 84kg a year of diamorphine, cocaine, cannabis and ketamine — worth £41,500 — into the UK operating from his semi-detached house in Deanshanger using the code name 'Batspawn' on an illegal chat app. He was sentenced to 17 years, six months at Aylesbury Crown Court in July. 28. JACOB BRISTOW
The 25-year-old groomed a teenage girl, encouraging her to engage in sexual activity and swap inappropriate text messages. Police later discovered indecent images and videos of the girl on his mobile. Bristow, from Rushden, pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of making indecent photographs of a child and was sentenced to four years, 10 months in August.
