Explosive experts called to Weedon after hand grenade discovered

Bomb disposal experts have been called to Weedon after an unexploded device was found by workers.

A World War Two hand grenade was found at around 11.30am in Bridge Street – where works are currently taking place.

The area where the discovery was made has been cordoned off, with police and fire teams on the scene. Explosive experts have been called to examine the device and remove it safely.

Weedon has a long history of association with the military, housing the Ordnance Depot which during World War Two was used to store a wide range of ordnance.
