Drug dealer from Northampton jailed after he was caught with large quantity of cocaine and seen 'acting suspiciously'

A drug dealer from Northampton has been jailed after police officers saw him “acting suspiciously” and then found him in possession of a large quantity of cocaine.

Difrim Metalliri, of Beckets View, Northampton, was spotted by neighbourhood police officers who saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in Coggeshall Road, Braintree, Essex on August 20, 2025.

The 35-year-old was arrested after officers caught up with the car in Stisted, Essex.

Subsequent police searches led to the seizure of a large quantity of cocaine and some cannabis.

Metalliri was charged with and pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Inspector Phil Jackson, of Braintree Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This arrest is a great example of our officers noticing something that was out of place while out on patrol and acting on instinct.

“Drugs damage our neighbourhoods in all sorts of ways and we take a dim view of anyone coming here to deal drugs and causing harm to our communities.”

Metalliri was sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on November 13.

The court ordered Metalliri to forfeit £450 cash seized, the destruction of drugs seized and for Metalliri to be deprived of a car, a phone and a bank card.
