Driver who sparked six-car pile-up near Northampton town centre sentenced by magistrates

Magistrates slapped a driver with a hefty court bill and penalty points over a pile-up involving SIX vehicles near Northampton town centre.

According to court documents, Shamir Hussein was behind the wheel of a grey VW Golf which sparked the shunt on April 7, 2025. It was claimed that the 26-year-old failed to allow sufficient time to “react to another vehicle changing lanes in front of them resulting in a collision with all six vehicles sustaining damage”.

Hussein, of Crestline Court, Goldings, pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road without due care and attention in that he was not driving appropriately for the built-up road conditions, but was found guilty by three magistrates at a hearing in Northampton on April 29, 2026.

He was fined £623 and ordered to pay £650 towards prosecution costs plus a £249 surcharge to fund victim services — totalling £1,522. He also had his driving record endorsed with six penalty points.
