Driver approaching girls on way to school in Northamptonshire was not an attempted abduction say police

The two girls were walking to The Parker E-ACT Academy on Friday morning (January 22). As they walked though the Ashby Fields estate at around 8.30am they were approached by a car which drove slowly alongside them.

The man, said to be in his 30s, then allegedly ‘asked them if they wanted a lift’, before the girls ran off.

Warnings were posted by the school on Facebook, but police now say this was not an attempted abduction.

A police spokesman said: “They were approached by a man who stopped to ask them where the nearest shop was.

“Police are not treating this incident as an attempted abduction, but are urging parents to talk to their children about stranger danger and asking anyone who witnessed the man to call them on 101.”
