Police want to speak to the owner of a dog that injured a jogger as she ran through a country park near Northampton over the weekend.

A 'medium to large brown Labrador' ran towards the woman barking as it was not on a lead in Upton Country Park at about 9.45am on Sunday (January 10), a spokesperson said.

The runner put out her hand and called out to the dog - despite the pet slowing down, it has made contact with her thigh with its teeth, according to Northamptonshire Police.

Although the impact has not broken the woman's skin, it has left bruising to her thigh, a force spokesperson added.

The dog walker is described by police as "an Asian woman wearing a yellow/green coat and bobble hat and carrying an orange ball thrower".

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for the dog walker or anyone who may recognise her or the dog’s description to get in touch.
