Dog owner hit witness with walking stick after two sheep die in livestock worrying incident in Northamptonshire village
A dog owner hit a witness with a walking stick after they challenged her following a livestock worrying incident in a Northamptonshire village, where two sheep died.
The incident happened between 2pm and 2.30pm on Friday November 7, in a field off Middle Street, Nether Heyford.
Police say a dog was seen worrying livestock, which resulted in the death of two sheep.
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “When challenged the owner of the dog, who was a white woman in her early 50s and had two dogs – a husky and labrador-cross, struck the witness with her walking stick and walked off towards the centre of the village.”

Rural Crime Officer Emerson Knights, who is investigating this incident, is reminding owners that they have a responsibility to keep their pets under control and is appealing for the woman to get in touch.
PC Knights said: “The worrying of livestock can have devastating consequences leading to the death of animals, but all of this is completely avoidable if people walking dogs keep them on a lead and under control.”
The Rural Crime Team would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information which could help identify the owner of the dog.
They can be contacted at Northamptonshire Police on 101, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number: 25000654411.
