A 'gunshot noise' heard in Northampton is being investigated by police with officers appealing for information from the public.

There are no reported injuries after the loud noise was heard in the Rectory Farm area sometime overnight between Wednesday (January 29) and Thursday.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman, said: “Police officers are appealing for information after reports of a gunshot noise in the Rectory Farm area of Northampton.

“There are no reported injuries and officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident which took place sometime overnight between January 29 and January 30.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5555111.”
