Detectives are hunting a thief who pinched a shopper's handbag and used their bank card at a cash machine in Daventry town centre.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have information about the theft in the Sheaf Street branch of Aldi on September 22 11am.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The handbag was taken from the shopper’s trolley and a bank card was later used to fraudulently withdraw cash from a nearby cashpoint.

"Our officers would like to speak to the man pictured and anyone who recognises him is asked to contact us on 101 using incident number 20000500014."
